High school students from across the country will travel to participate in the 2019 National Black MBA Association® Leaders of Tomorrow® Leadership Summit. This year’s summit is taking place June 26 – June 30, 2019, which includes the 18th Annual National Business Case Competition where students compete for a combined total of $30K in scholarship awards.

The annual National Business Case Competition is designed to help participants develop real-world critical thinking and problem-solving skills by addressing a business case study.

• Each Case Competition team will be made up of no more than five students
• Only four (4) students may present during the Case Competition. The team may utilize any of the 5 students as the 4 presenting students during the Case Competition.
• Each student participating on a case team is to have participated in other Leaders of Tomorrow® activities from March 2019 – June 2019.

Presentation

•  Length: The maximum time allowed for each Case Presentation is 25 minutes.
•  Question & Answer: Each team will participate in a Q&A session following the presentation. Q&A will last for a maximum of 10 minutes.
•  Each team must provide their final presentation electronically to the Case Competition Coordinator by the designated time.
•  Anonymity: While presenting, the teams are not to be identified – the team chapter name is to be shielded.
•  A special note to team members: Please do not wear pins or other paraphernalia that identify your chapter or your state.

Rounds

• There will be three (3) rounds for the competition. The teams with the two highest scores from each room of Round 1 will advance to Second Round.

•  The room assignment for Round 1 will be randomly decided. The room assignment for Round 2 will be assigned based on room pairs as follows: 1 and 2; 3 and 4; 5 and 6; etc. See Talented Twelve Model for additional details.

•  The scores from Round 1 and 2 will be used to determine who advances to the Final Round. The teams with the highest total average score from both rounds will advance to the Final Round. All of the winning teams from Round 2 will begin Final Round on equal footing and will be judged for their Final Round performance only.

•  The Final Round includes an audience score in addition to the Judges’ scores.

•  Rounds 1 and 2 are closed to anyone outside of those designated by the presenting team. The Final Round is open to all participants and guests.

Scoring

• Teams may accumulate a maximum of 150 points per Judge.

• Teams must complete and incorporate the financial summary in their presentation to receive the total points allotted.

• The team with the highest average score will win the competition. In the event of a tie, each judge will have one tie-breaking vote.

• The Final Round includes an audience score in addition to the Judges’ scores.

• Final Score = (Judges Score + Audience Score) / Number of Judges + 1

• The Final Round includes an audience score in addition to the Judges’ scores.

• Rounds 1 and 2 are closed to anyone outside of those designated by the presenting team. The Final Round is open to all participants and guests.

• The non-finalist teams will be able to vote for their top team.

• Finalists will be assigned points based on how many votes they receive from non-finalist teams.

• Non-finalist teams may vote for only one finalist.

• Finalists may not vote.

Points Awarded
