Giving Opportunities

The National Black MBA Association® promotes educational and economic growth for black professionals. Our member’s needs—and our desire to make resources available to them—are growing. By expanding our initiatives, we can reach more students and professionals. However, funding required to meet these needs has become increasingly limited.

Your gift, not matter the amount, will go a long way in helping us achieve our mission to serve black professionals. We invite you to explore the amazing opportunities that the National Black MBA Association® offers and invest in our organization and its important role in sustaining black professionals’ access to educational and business resources.

Business Fund for Excellence

The National Black MBA Association’s® Business Fund for Excellence offers funding for tools and resources that lead to the creation of educational and wealth building opportunities for our members, which enhances their professional and personal development and growth. Gifts to this fund provide flexible resources to support the immediate needs of the Association.

• Your gift of $350 can send a Leaders of Tomorrow® student to the annual LOT® Leadership Summit

• Your gift of $1,500 can help an undergraduate or graduate student member to attend our annual conference to meet with prospective employers at the Career Expo

• Your gift of $5,000 can provide an annual scholarship to assist an undergraduate or graduate student member

• Your gift of $25,000 can create an endowed* scholarship fund to create a lasting impact for our undergraduate and graduate student members for generations to come

*An endowed scholarship requires a minimum gift of at least $25,000. By endowing the scholarship, you ensure that it will forever provide an opportunity for our members to receive a secondary and/or post-graduate education.  Individual donors will have two (2) years to fully endow a scholarship, with the award being made one year after the scholarship is fully funded.

Scholarships

Leaders of Tomorrow® Endowed Scholarship Fund

The NBMBAA® Leaders of Tomorrow® Endowed Scholarship provides academic scholarships to the winners of the Case Competition that is hosted by NBMBAA® at the annual LOT® Leadership Summit.  Members of the winning team receive scholarship funds for their stellar performances. Prizes are awarded to the top three performing teams, for a collective award of $30,000. Annually, up to 15 students receive a scholarship from this endowed fund.

Bakari Henderson Memorial Scholarship

The NBMBAA® formed the Bakari Henderson Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor the memory of one of our former student members. This educational scholarship fund aims to motivate future leaders to take advantage of every educational opportunity that allows them the exposure of studying abroad. We seek to honor Bakari and his passion for living the fullest life and seeking every educational opportunity afforded to him by awarding a student(s) with financial support to participate in a study abroad program while attending a 4-year college. Lloyd Trotter Scholarship Fund

Lloyd Trotter was one of the key founders of General Electric’s first corporate affinity group, the African American Forum, and was the first African American officer at GE. Despite the demands of his successful career, Lloyd always found time to give back to the community and help minorities in GE by redirecting “people of color so they have a better shot at winning the game.” This scholarship was the brainchild of Mr. Trotter and the African American Forum of GE. For more than 15 years, current and former employees of GE have contributed to the scholarship. Like Lloyd and other GE employees, anyone that shares the same distinct values of integrity, hard work and community service are encouraged to contribute.
