Welcome to a life changing opportunity… be a part of the 46th NBMBAA® Annual Conference & Exposition by volunteering. Washington, DC will be our host City supported by NBMBAA local DC Chapter. We are expecting thousands of attendance to join us in what is affectionately known as “Chocolate City” from Tuesday, September 17, 2024-Friday, September 21, 2024. We will need a lot of in-person volunteers to ensure the success of this year’s conference. Volunteers will be needed as early as Sunday, September 15, 2024. There is a great deal of “behind-the-scenes” coordination, as a volunteer. You can also expand your network to increase your net worth, share your skills, gain experience, and have an impact on the efficient operation and continued success of this annual event.

Membership in the NBMBAA has been beneficial to my professional trajectory in several ways:

  1. Networking Opportunities: Being part of such an organization provides access to a network of like-minded individuals who understand the unique challenges and opportunities faced by African-American professionals. This network is essential for professional network expansion, career advancement, collaborations, but most importantly, valuable peer connections, mentorship, and career opportunities.
  2. Professional Development: the organization caters their programs and events that is focused on professional development, such as leadership training, certificate workshops, and seminars on new industry trends. These opportunities help me stay competitive and advance my career.

Yes, volunteers must be at least 21 years old to participate. You don’t have to be a member of the NBMBAA® or a business major to volunteer.

You can register to become a volunteer by clicking here, and selecting your registration type.
Volunteers will assist Team Leaders in the program and event space. Volunteers are allowed to select opportunities that are interesting to them. Some opportunities involve product placement for luncheons and sessions, engaging with the speakers, providing general information to attendees, and supporting the efficient flow of human traffic to main events like luncheons, career expo, workshops, and sessions. There will also be opportunities for our Volunteers to manage our social platforms and engage with our audience.

Volunteers may register for as many opportunities as they like. We only asked that you please honor your volunteer time shift commitment. We also ask that communicate any changes in advance to your schedule of availability.

Volunteers may choose their own assignments. Self-scheduling is allowed at the time of registering to volunteer. Additionally, you will receive via email a link giving you access to the volunteer opportunities/assignments list. This will allow you to add or remove volunteer assignments.

If you are able to volunteer the entire week, please ask about assignments for “Dedicated Volunteers”.

Volunteers are expected to satisfy the entire time that is posted for the assignment. You must arrive in the volunteer office 45 minutes prior to the start of your opportunity/assignment

Volunteers are allowed to register for conference events at their own expense. Being a volunteer DOES NOT GIVE YOU ACCESS TO ATTEND events, sessions, or activities free of charge.

You can however earn rewards to attend select sessions, the career expo, or MBA Live Concert. See this information under Volunteer Rewards.
There is no cost to volunteer for conference volunteer assignments.

Volunteers must wear business attire unless the volunteer opportunities requires the volunteer polo shirt.  Each opportunity (assignment) will list the required attire. All volunteers will receive a volunteer polo shirt that is to be worn when business attire is not mandated. Comfortable shoes are strongly encouraged.

No, you don’t have to register for conference to volunteer. No, you don’t have to pay a registration fee to volunteer. However volunteers must fill out the appropriate registration from. Click here to register.

The 46th Annual NBMBAA® Conference & Exposition will be an IN-PERSON CONFERENCE EXPERIENCE.
Conference and Exposition dates are September 17, 2024- September 21, 2024. The main location is the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mt. Vernon Place NW, Washington, DC 20001. There will also be activities at off-site locations.

About Rewards

All rewards must be verifiable by use of our volunteer opportunities Volgistics System. Failure to check-in and check-out of the system may result in disqualifications for conference rewards.

Using rewards at Conference: 1-day Career Expo Pass good for Thursday, September 19, 2024 or Friday, September 20, 2024. MBA live Event Tickets are good for Thursday, September 19, 2024 or Friday, September 20, 2024.

Post-Conference rewards will be based on your membership status and the total number of hours you volunteered. All rewards are non-transferable and must be redeemed prior to the expiration date. Failure to redeem your reward by the indicated deadline will result in the expiration of the reward. No rewards can be banked or carried over to another conference year.

We will notify qualifying volunteers of Post Conference Rewards two weeks after the Conference Registration opens for the 2025 NBMBAA Conference. See the Volunteer Guide for a full description of rewards and how to earn them.

Annual membership contract, paid in monthly installments with automatic renewal Service begins as soon as your initial payment is processed. You will be charged 1/12 of the annual membership fee at the time of purchase, every month for the duration of your annual contract. Your membership contract will renew automatically, on your annual renewal date, until you cancel your membership in writing no later than 30 days prior to your annual renewal by contacting membership support. Renewal rates are subject to change, but you will be notified at least 30 days prior to your annual renewal date if your renewal rate will change. Should you cancel before your one-year term has expired, you will be charged 100% of your remaining contract obligation and your service will continue until the end of until the end of your contracted term. Cancellations can be made any time by contacting membership support in writing. Annual prepaid membership contract, with automatic renewal Service begins as soon as your payment is processed. You will be charged, immediately in full, the annual membership fee at the time of purchase. Your contract will renew automatically, on your annual renewal date, unless you cancel your membership in writing by no later than 30 days prior to your annual renewal date by contacting membership support. Renewal rates are subject to change, but you will be notified at least 30 days prior to your annual renewal date if your renewal rate will change. Should you cancel before your one-year term has expired, your payment is non-refundable, and your service will continue until the end of your contracted term. Cancellations can be made any time by contacting membership support in writing. Activation of Membership Memberships will become active upon processing of all materials at National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) headquarters. Existing Lifetime and Associate Lifetime Members The Lifetime or Associate Lifetime membership is no longer offered. Existing Lifetime or Associate Lifetime members who have paid in full are active for the duration of his or her lifetime, from their membership activation (see activation of membership). Lifetime or Associate Lifetime members are no longer eligible for any other membership type. Student Members Student memberships are active for 12 consecutive months, beginning at activation (see activation of membership). You will be considered a student member as long as you are actively enrolled in a recognized undergraduate or graduate degree program. Your membership should be upgraded to a Professional or Associate membership upon the expiration of your current membership, subsequent to graduation. You are required to submit proof of your current enrollment. The following items will be accepted as proof of current enrollment: • Letter from the registrar acknowledging your current enrollment status • Copy of your tuition bill • Class schedule reflecting your current enrollment. Should you fail to submit proof of current enrollment within 60 days, your membership may be terminated, and your payment will not be refunded. You will then need to reapply for membership. Refund Policy The NBMBAA will only provide refunds for the following reasons: • Verified duplication of billing • Verified overcharges • Submission of incorrect member type resulting in one of the above Refunds will be provided as follows: • Credit card payments will be credited to that same credit card. • Cash and check payments will be credited by NBMBAA check after 30 days, and only after initial payment has cleared our financial institution. * Refunds will be issued only upon request of the individual. The NBMBAA will vigorously defend itself against credit card charge backs. In the event that your credit card company requests a credit for charges, we will comply only to the extent that the request meets the requirements of the refund policy. (See above). Recurring Payments If you choose a recurring payments option to automatically renew your membership, you are responsible for canceling it prior to annual recurrence to avoid charges. Once charged, your membership will not be refunded. Notice of Photography and/or Videography As a condition of membership, individuals grant the National Black MBA Association an irrevocable nonexclusive license to use their name, image, voice and likeness for the purpose of advertising and promoting NBMBAA events, activities and products without any further approval from you or payment to you. It is the NBMBAA’s right to make visual and audio recordings, and still images of its members (collectively “Photography”) and to use the Photography and member’s name. However, none of the above shall be deemed as an endorsement for any NBMBAA product or service. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, members agree that the rights granted hereunder shall include the perpetual, worldwide right of NBMBAA to edit, telecast, rerun, record, publish, reproduce, use, license, print, distribute or otherwise exploit, in any manner and in any medium or forum, whether now known or hereafter devised.
