Paulina Johnson

Paulina Johnson, Detroit Chapter President

Paulina Johnson is an Account Manager for ArcelorMittal, the largest global steel supplier. She is currently the only African American female to hold this position within the Automotive Sales Unit of ArcelorMittal. Her responsibilities include managing several automotive accounts in various regions within the US and Canada. She is responsible for securing and maintaining existing automotive contracts. Paulina is the lead contact to purchasing for all General Motors Direct Plant steel purchases from ArcelorMittal. Paulina’s career has thrived in the Steel Industry. Some key attributes to her success within ArcelorMittal has been her positive attitude and willingness to develop processes and employees to improve departmental efficiency.
Paulina first joined the National Black MBA Association® in 2002 after receiving a scholarship from the Indianapolis Chapter as a graduate student. She obtained a B.S. in Computer Information Systems (1998) and a MBA in Marketing Management (2002) from Indiana University Northwest. She is the only individual to have obtained a 4-year Bachelor of Science Degree in 3 years from Indiana University Northwest and her accomplishment was archived in the University’s Historical Archive Records. Paulina’s passion is mentorship. She published her first memoir, “I AM YOU – Achieving Against All Odds” in June 2008. She wrote this book to inspire and encourage others to fulfill their dreams despite any obstacle they may face in life. Paulina has served as Marketing Chairperson and as a member of the Membership Committee for the Detroit Chapter.
The Detroit Chapter was incorporated in 1976 with the vision of establishing and maintaining an effective communication device for the African-American manager. Our mission is to assist in the creation of intellectual and economic wealth within the African-American community.
The Detroit Chapter is currently one of the 10 largest chapters in the National Black MBA Association® with approximately 300 members. Our diverse membership demographics include a variety of industries including banking, health care, education, retail, automotive and a host of other career fields. The Detroit Chapter is also proud to be the home of 3 past National Presidents, 1 National VP Operations and nearly 20 past members of the National Board of Directors.
