What is the Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) Program?

The LOT Program is a premier initiative by the National Black MBA® Association (NBMBAA), designed to prepare high school students for college and career success. This program provides mentorship, leadership development, and practical training for students interested in business, STEM, and other professional fields.

For Students

The LOT Program is open to high school students with a passion for learning, leadership, and making a difference in their communities. Applicants should be in good academic standing and demonstrate an interest in pursuing higher education and career readiness.

LOT participants gain skills in leadership, financial literacy, college preparation, career planning, and networking. The program includes hands-on workshops, mentorship with business leaders, case competitions, and access to the annual National Leadership Summit.

Applications for the Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) Program are managed through your local NBMBAA chapter. To be eligible, you must first be a member of the National Black MBA Association®. Contact your nearest chapter for application details, eligibility requirements, and deadlines. Interested students can find their local chapters here.

Additionally, participation fees may vary by chapter to cover the costs of materials, events, and other program activities. Some chapters also offer financial assistance based on need.

The National Leadership Summit is an annual gathering held in mid to late June, where LOT students from across the country participate in leadership workshops, networking, and a national case competition. It’s a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and meet peers from different regions.

For Parents

LOT provides students with invaluable skills and experiences that prepare them for college and future careers. The program emphasizes college readiness, financial literacy, career planning, and personal growth, all within a supportive and inclusive community.

LOT is structured as an academic-year program with regular meetings, workshops, and mentorship sessions organized by local NBMBAA chapters. The program culminates with the National Leadership Summit in June, where students gather for intensive learning, networking, and competition.

Safety is our priority. All program activities are supervised by experienced mentors, advisors, and coaches who are committed to creating a secure, positive, and educational environment for all participants. Additionally, all mentors, advisors, and coaches are required to submit criminal background checks to ensure the safety and well-being of every student involved in the program.

Students are expected to actively participate in regular meetings, workshops, and events. The program encourages consistent involvement to maximize the benefits and make the most of mentoring and learning opportunities.

Yes, many chapters offer scholarships to LOT students, and NBMBAA also works to secure funding to support student travel and participation in the National Leadership Summit. Students may inquire about specific scholarship options with their local chapter.
