A Texas native and one of the most electrifying point guards in college basketball history, TJ Ford made headlines as the 2003 Naismith College Player of the Year at the University of Texas. Selected 8th overall in the legendary 2003 NBA Draft, he entered the league with a fearless spirit and unmatched determination. But when a career-threatening spinal injury challenged everything, he had worked for, he fought back. After his 9-year career in the NBA, TJ shifted his focus to building a legacy beyond basketball. He founded the TJ Ford Basketball Academy, where he mentors and inspires young athletes to pursue excellence in life, not just sports. His academy teaches more than basketball fundamentals — it instills values like discipline, accountability, and perseverance, preparing young people to win in the game of life.
At his core, he is a man of faith, integrity, and family. A devoted husband, father, son, and brother who believes that success starts at home and that leadership begins by serving others. His mission is simple: inspire others, overcome obstacles, and leave a legacy of impact.
Today, TJ continues to inspire the next generation of leaders, investing his time and resources into creating opportunities for youth and fostering a culture of excellence, leadership, and purpose.
