Alert for Attendees & Exhibitors

Beware of Hotel and Attendee List Scams
It has come to our attention that some of our exhibitors and partners are receiving e-mails offering to sell attendee lists for the National Black MBA Association® Conference or offering options to secure hotel rooms. These emails are not coming from NBMBAA® or authorized by NBMBAA®. They are scams.

NBMBAA® does not sell or rent its list to third parties.
Rooms in the nearby hotels to the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston can only be obtained from NBMBAA’s housing block through NBMBAA’s official housing provider, MCI USA.

Please be aware of any message coming from sources not affiliated with NBMBAA®. We  encourage you to delete these messages and avoid interaction with them.

Attendee List Email Scam
Unfortunately, emails are circulating that offer to sell attendee lists for the NBMBAA® Annual Conference.

  • NBMBAA® does not sell its exhibitor or attendee lists, and no third-party is authorized to distribute or sell any lists related to our events
  • Statements claiming to offer our attendee lists are fraudulent. Even if they do have a list, it’s not ours.
  • In many cases, these scams seek to identify valid emails, so we encourage you to simply delete them without interaction —  this includes not clicking the unsubscribe.

Hotel Scams
Our event is also the target of hotel scams.

  • The official housing partner for NBMBAA® is MCI USA.
  • MCI will never reach out to offer specific hotels via email or phone calls. Please visit the Conference housing portal here: You may access MCI customer service and chat on this site.
  • Beware of companies offering discounted room rates in our hotel properties or others. We cannot guarantee that you will receive what you paid for and in most cases, guests lose money.
